The Ghosts of Lagow Castle

Many castles in Poland have legends and myths that surround them. These stories often include tales of lost love and hauntings.

Here is a favorite.

Lagow Castle

A fierce Polish knight named Marek in the 15^th century claimed Lagow castle for his own. The Germanic Teutonic Knights had built this castle a hundred years before.

He at one time was beloved by the townspeople but when his wife died, he became lonely and embittered. His younger beautiful sister, Dorota came to live with him.

Marek took a prisoner during a battle he fought just outside the town--a Prussian Prince named Boris. He imprisoned Prince Boris in his castle’s dungeon.

Prince Boris began to sing every day. It was believed he did this to keep his sanity for he was enclosed in a dark, damp place.

It wasn’t long before the townspeople started to flock to the castle to hear him sing--for Prince Boris had a fine voice.

Marek’s sister Dorota became enamored by the Prince’s voice. She bribed the guards so she could meet Boris. After this she visited him regularly--the two fell in love.

Dorota told her brother she wanted to marry Prince Boris. Marek disapproved and arranged for Dorota to marry an elderly knight that lived in a neighboring community.

During her wedding reception at the castle, Marek had Prince Boris brought up to the great hall. He commanded the prince to sing for his guests. Boris refused.

Marek now angered ordered the guards behead the Prince. They then threw his body into a nearby lake. Dorota who witnessed this terrible event died from a broken heart before her marriage could be consummated.

Soon after, her distraught ghost was seen wandering along the shore of the lake where Prince Boris was thrown. She is also seen walking through the town and in the castle.

Witnesses that live in Lagow today state they have seen her ghost.

They also state that during the summer months in the evening they hear Prince Boris singing near the castles’ dungeon and by the lake.

Angels at the World Trade Center

Singing Angels

Recently, people who live in New York have reported some unusual sights and sounds seen and heard near ground zero.

On September 11, 2001, when the World Trade Center in New York City was ruthlessly attacked by terrorists in hijacked planes--thousands of innocent victims died. These murders will never be forgotten.

New Yorkers vividly remember the horrific sights, sounds and smells of that day. The smoke as the towers were hit, the acid smell as they burned and the loud roar as they collapsed.

Even more heartbreaking was the sight of people jumping to their deaths, the sounds as they hit the pavement below, and then the thousands of photographs and posters hung showing the faces of the missing.

One World Trade Center

Twelve years after this horrendous attack a new building--formally known as Freedom Tower now called One World Trade Center stands near ground zero. This building represents the fact that America and Americans always recover--we remain strong.

In this place, where thousands died senselessly it should be noted that several witnesses have experienced an inspiring phenomenon.

Kenny Cummings who lives a couple of blocks from this newly opened tower has heard what sounds like a choir of angels singing coming from the WTC area.

Cummings describes these sounds as “unmistakable and very chilling.” He first heard this sound during Hurricane Sandy in the fall of 2012.

Another witness, Erik Torkells, captured this sound on a video he took. He uploaded it to YouTube. 

Here is a link to the sounds he recorded. Could this just be the wind, a nearby church choir or angels? I leave it to the reader to decide.

Angel’s Face in Twisted Steel

The National September 11 Memorial and Museum located at ground zero has the image of an angel’s face in twisted steel.

Construction workers at this museum located underground first noted this face. It was quickly dubbed, “Angel of 9/11.”

Sad Face

Witnesses state that when looked at the right angle, this sad face emerges. It has dark eyes, a nose, and an open mouth.

North Tower Girder

This face is seen on a piece of twisted steel, which was a girder recovered from the North Tower, hit by a hijacked plane on 9/11. Several groups have come forward to give “logical.” explanations for this phenomenon.

Again, I leave it to the reader to decide whether this is an angel or just the witnesses’ brains making sense of random patterns.
